Adventures in Cat-Land

This is our cat JackJack (like the baby in the incredibles, sweet and yet trouble). We adopted him January 2007 from a humane society in Rockland County called CATS (care about the strays). He had been trapped in a colony, trained, fixed and then adopted eventually by us.

Now when we adopted him we were told he was a flight risk and to be careful as if he escaped he might not come back, so this has always been a worry of ours.

Recently Elle has learned how to open the screen door to the back. Open door + Curious cat = Not good! Well the inevitable happened. Jack got out last night and we had just thought he was hiding in a room but when Tim left for work this morning he saw JackJack jet out from under his car and run off. I spent the rest of the day intermittedly calling for him checking our yard, and when Tim got home he walked around the neighborhood and no sign of JackJack.

Thankfully once it was dark out our wandering little cat decided that he liked the warmth of the house and tummy rubs and we found him outside our front door, calling for us to come in. So our JackJack has returned and we're going to have to devise a plan to keep Elle from letting him out again.

Sometimes he's so annoying, but we really do love JackJack. When he was gone, I was extremely sad as well. My hope is that this never happens again (as I'm writing this JackJack is cuddled next to me).
